Finance Officer
The Shire of Moora is seeking a Finance Officer to support the Finance Services team. At the Shire of Moora we are committed to delivering excellent public services and ensuring sound financial management across all departments.
As a Finance Officer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial integrity of the council. You will be responsible for the debtors’ function and support creditors, rates, financial reporting and compliance where required, ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of public funds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain the Council’s accounts receivable ledger.
- Generate and issue invoices, statements, and credit notes in accordance with Council policies and procedures.
- Monitor and reconcile debtor accounts to ensure accuracy and timely collection of revenue.
- Follow up on outstanding debts through phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Negotiate and establish payment arrangements with ratepayers and customers.
- Prepare reconciliations and debtor reports to support financial reporting, end-of-year procedures and audits.
Essential Criteria:
- Experience in accounts receivable or financial functions
- Strong communication with a customer-focused approach.
- High attention to detail and ability to work within set timeframes.
- Developed knowledge of financial systems and Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable
- Knowledge of local government finance processes
- Experience with grant funding, asset finance, or procurement processes
Employment is contingent upon:
- Provision of a current satisfactory National Police Clearance
- A Pre-Employment Medical Assessment including Drug & Alcohol Testing
