The Shire of Moora is seeking an experienced Community Engagement Officer to assist and support the Community Development team with event coordination and external communication. This will include promotion of Shire events, working closely with community members and groups and managing the Shire’s social media platforms.

The Community Engagement Officer is passionate about building strong relationships between organisations and the communities they serve. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, they are skilled at engaging diverse groups, facilitating community programs, and gathering feedback to inform service improvement. They bring experience in outreach, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement, along with a genuine commitment to inclusivity and community development. Resourceful, empathetic, and proactive, they thrive in dynamic environments and are driven by the impact of their work on community wellbeing and cohesion.
Essential
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a team-focused, enthusiastic, and proactive attitude
- Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal
- Excellent computer literacy, with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships with stakeholders
- Demonstrated knowledge of corporate communications tools including web, social media and print mediums
- Great customer service skills
Desirable
- Tertiary qualification and/or additional professional qualifications in communications, digital marketing or equivalent, plus extensive relevant experience in these fields
- Experience using digital tools (e.g., social media, websites & newsletters) to support community outreach and engagement.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends, to attend community events or meetings.
