Published on Friday, 27 March 2026 at 11:36:59 AM

Residents are advised to prepare for potential severe weather conditions in our area over the weekend. Please take precautions, stay informed, and avoid unnecessary travel during dangerous conditions.

Be prepared:

• Secure loose outdoor items around your home and yard
• Clean out gutters and downpipes so water can drain away quickly
• Trim overhanging trees and shrubs
• Move outdoor equipment, rubbish, chemicals and poisons to a higher location
• Prepare to move cars, equipment, livestock and pets early so they are not caught in floodwaters
• Park vehicles away from trees, powerlines and creeks
• Confirm arrangements for your animals

Plan ahead:

• Make an emergency plan in case you need to evacuate
• Prepare an emergency kit including a battery-operated radio, spare batteries, a torch and a first aid kit
• Locate and learn how to turn off your home’s main electricity, gas and water supply if required
• If anyone in your household relies on electrical medical equipment, plan for power outages – restoration may take time
• Know reliable sources to stay up to date with information and warnings
• Check whether your neighbours may need assistance
