Expressions of Interest Open – Audit, Risk & Improvement Committee (ARIC)
The Shire of Moora is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to join its newly established Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee (ARIC).
This initiative forms part of recent Western Australian State Government legislative reforms, which require all local governments to establish an independent ARIC by 30 June 2026.
About the Committee
The ARIC plays a vital role in strengthening governance across the Shire by providing advice to Council on:
- Financial management and reporting
- Internal and external audit processes
- Risk management and compliance
- Organisational improvement
Positions Available
The Shire is seeking to appoint:
- Independent Presiding Member (Chair)
- Independent Deputy Presiding Member
All independent members must not be Elected Members or employees of the Shire and must meet legislative independence requirements.
Who Should Apply?
We encourage applications from professionals with experience in:
- Financial auditing and reporting
- Risk management and governance
- Local government or public sector administration
This is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the transparency, accountability and continuous improvement of the Shire.
Key Information
- Appointments are for a two-year term, aligned with the local government election cycle
- The Committee meets approximately three times per year
How to Apply
Applicants are required to submit an Expression of Interest.
In submitting an EOI, as well as completing the Expression of Interest form applicants
must provide a recent CV and a cover letter detailing:
- Background, experience and qualifications relevant to the Terms of Reference, including (but not limited to) as Presiding Member and/or Deputy Presiding Member of other audit, risk and improvement committees.
- Previous experience or involvement in local government, community organisations or
committees relevant to the Terms of Reference, including as Presiding Member and/or Deputy
Presiding Member.
- Motivation for joining the committee.
- Ability to commit to meeting attendance.
