Sports and Recreation Manager
The Shire of Moora is seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and community-minded Sports and Recreation Manager to lead the delivery, promotion and operation of the Shire’s sports and recreation facilities.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to support the growth of local sport and recreation by managing facilities including the Moora Swimming Pool, Hydrotherapy Pool, recreation grounds, sporting facilities, as well as sports and community recreation programs.

This is a full-time position under a fix-term (three to five years) management contract.
Key responsibilities
- Support the planning and delivery of the Shire’s sports and recreation services.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of sporting and recreation facilities.
- Ensure facilities are safe, compliant, well-maintained and welcoming for the community.
- Supervise patrons and manage pool operations (including water quality testing, chemical management and safety compliance) at the Moora Swimming Pool and Hydrotherapy Pool.
- Build strong relationships with sporting clubs, community groups and stakeholders.
- Support participation programs, events and initiatives that encourage community involvement.
- Identify opportunities for grants, partnerships and facility improvements.
- Lead and support Sports and Recreation Services staff.
About the person
We are looking for someone who has:
- Relevant qualifications or significant industry experience in sport, recreation, leisure or community facility management.
- Experience managing sports, recreation or aquatic facilities.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience supervising staff.
- Sound knowledge of facility operations, risk management and Work Health and Safety requirements.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience building positive relationships with sporting clubs, community groups and key stakeholders.
- Experience preparing reports, managing budgets and delivering operational programs.
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Pool Operations or Pool Plant Operator qualifications.
Desirable criteria also include:
- Royal Life Saving Australia Pool Lifeguard qualification.
- Aquatic Technical Operations qualification.
- Experience in local government.
- Experience preparing successful grant applications and managing funded projects.
- Knowledge of Department of Health public swimming pool requirements.
- Experience using recreation or facility booking software.
What we offer
- Total annual remuneration package between $126,150 and $135,350, dependent on experience.
