Parks and Gardens Supervisor

The Shire of Moora is seeking a motivated and practical Parks and Gardens Supervisor to lead a small team responsible for maintaining the Shire’s parks, reserves, gardens and public spaces. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, leading and supporting a team, and taking pride in maintaining spaces that the community uses every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the day-to-day operations of the Parks and Gardens team.
  • Allocate tasks and monitor work progress to ensure quality outcomes.
  • Lead by example through hands-on participation in maintenance activities.
  • Promote safe work practices and maintain a strong safety culture.
  • Assist with planning, scheduling and prioritising maintenance works.
  • Coordinate maintenance of parks, reserves, gardens and public open spaces.
  • Liaise with contractors and internal stakeholders when required.
  • Identify maintenance needs and report operational or resource requirements.
  • Support the ongoing improvement and presentation of public spaces.
  • Managing and maintaining the Shire’s reticulation systems.

What We Are Looking For

Essential Criteria

  • Experience in horticulture, parks or grounds maintenance
  • Demonstrated team leadership and supervision capability
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety practices
  • Experience with irrigation, lawn maintenance and herbicide application
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to undertake physical work in a variety of weather conditions
  • Current C Class driver’s licence
  • Valid Construction Induction Card (White Card)

Desirable Criteria

  • Certificate III, or higher, in Horticulture or a related discipline.
  • HR driver’s licence.
  • Previous experience in a Local Government environment.

Other employment requirements

  • Provision of a current satisfactory National Police Clearance
  • A Pre-Employment Medical Assessment, including Drug and Alcohol Testing
