Parks and Gardens General Hand

 

The Shire of Moora is seeking a reliable and motivated Parks and Gardens General Hand to support the maintenance of parks, reserves and public open spaces across the Shire.

This is a hands-on outdoor role contributing to the presentation, safety and upkeep of community facilities and green spaces.

 

About the role

Working as part of the Parks and Gardens team, you will assist with routine horticultural and grounds maintenance activities, while supporting safe and efficient service delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Lawn mowing, edging, weeding, pruning and mulching.
  • Watering, planting and general garden maintenance.
  • Basic reticulation and minor maintenance tasks.
  • Pest and weed control activities.
  • Safe operation and care of tools and equipment.
  • Reporting hazards, maintenance issues and site conditions.
  • Completing timesheets and basic work records.
  • Following Work Health and Safety procedures and contributing to a safe workplace.
  • Providing courteous interaction with the public and stakeholders.

About the person

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Demonstrated experience in parks, gardens, horticulture or grounds maintenance.
  • Ability to carry out mowing, pruning, planting and general garden maintenance tasks.
  • Experience in safe operation of tools, plant and horticultural equipment.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of irrigation and reticulation systems.
  • Understanding of safe work practices and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and undertake manual handling tasks.
  • Good communication skills and positive work attitude.
  • Current C Class Driver’s Licence.

Other employment requirements

  • Provision of a current satisfactory National Police Clearance
  • A Pre-Employment Medical Assessment including Drug & Alcohol Testing
