Moora Sub Branch of RSL & Shire of Moora invite Serving and Ex Members of the Armed Forces and members of the public to the ANZAC Day Service on Thursday, 25th April 2024.

Proposal: Development of a proposed new 45 metre tower and various associated improvements on a 900 square metre portion of the abovementioned property for telecommunication purposes. The Shire of Moora is currently formulating its draft budget for the 2024/2025 financial year. As part of this process, Council is seeking submissions from community groups, clubs and associations relating to items that may be funded in the budget. All community groups who undertake projects for the benefit of the community in the Shire may be considered. Submission application forms can be accessed from the Shire's website by clicking here, collected from the Shire office, or emailed to community groups upon request to Gina Rainbird at mcd@moora.wa.gov.au. Please note that submissions close at 4pm on Friday 19 April 2024.

Recent community meetings regarding the Moora Sport and Recreation Complex Concept Plan have been a successful vehicle for local clubs to ask questions and provide feedback to the Shire, as it prepares to apply for the appropriate grant funding. The project will be divided into several stages that reflect the priority needs of a range of sporting clubs and the state of their respective infrastructure. Stage 1 of the project is currently addressing: The redevelopment of the existing hockey building to accommodate the needs of other sports – Netball, Hockey, Basketball, Tennis and Darts.

The Shire of Moora applied for funding to restore the community’s stone War Memorial Statue and was awarded over $50,000. On receival of written confirmation of the grant, restoration on the memorial will commence and will mark the 100-year anniversary of its installation.

Ripe Magazine, a special lift out in the Farm Weekly, has written an article about the Miling Roadhouse and how a couple of dedicated local farmers, with the help of the Miling Co-op, saw the potential in a closed and rundown business, and turned it into a thriving part of the community. In over seven months, Ms Thorniley, Mr White and their employees have made exceptional progress into bringing the roadhouse into functional glory and a place where locals can go to get food . Please find below a schedule outlining pool closures and altered hours for the remainder of the season, due to swimming carnivals and the Moora Triathlon. Please note, the pool will be closed on Good Friday, 29th March, and Sunday, 31st March will be the last day of the season.

The Shire of Moora has been approved to use Centrepay. This means Centrelink customers can now use this voluntary free paying service to pay their rates. The State Government's KidSport Program is trialling a one-off seasonal swimming pass for eligible 5 to 18-year-olds in Moora and in other towns in the Gascoyne, Midwest, Wheatbelt and Great Southern regions. The Shire of Moora, at the close of nominations on the 7th September received three nominations for the upcoming October 2023 election. As there were three vacancies, the nominees were elected unopposed, therefore there will be no Local Government Election Postal required on Saturday 21st October.
